Colombia – Coljuegos grants tenth online licence to Rush Street ahead of World Cup

By - 13 年 2018 月 XNUMX 日

Gaming regulator Coljuegos has granted the digital division of Rush Street Gaming permission to operate online gaming in Colombia taking the total number of licences to ten.

The digital division of US casino operator was awarded the licence last Friday to operate sports and casino betting via www.rushbet.com. The licence is valid for five years. Head of Coljuegos Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo welcomed the news saying that the entrance of Rush Street Gaming into the market meant that more operators ahead of The World Cup meant a more “a more competitive market” and that it confirmed “the great interest of the private sector” in online gaming in Colombia.
Hidalgo added that over $75bn (US$26.2m) has been gambled online on the newly licensed sites, which now have over 614,309 registered customers out of which 577,004 are active players. Of the over $11bn generated in licence fees by the board over $6bn has been earmarked for the Colombian health service.

There are now ten sites licensed by the board: wplay.co, betplay.com.co, colbet.co, zamba.co, codere.com.co, mijugada.co, masgol.co, luckia.co , sportium.com.co and now www.rushbet.co.

The World Cup is bound to provide a significant boost to the online market. According to Evert Montero Cárdenas the President of the Federation for Casinos and Bingo Businesses (Fecoljuegos) speaking at The FADJA show in Colombia in April it is estimated that online sports betting sales in Colombia will increase by as much as 40 per cent during the 2018 World Cup.
