Greece – Greek government could close three casinos

Three Greek casinos could lose their licences following recommendations from the Hellenic Gaming Commission that they be revoked due to unpaid debts to the Greek State.
According to the President of the Commission, casinos in Corfu, Xianthi and Syros Island should lose their licenses unless they pay off their outstanding debts. The casinos together are reported to owe up to €10m in outstanding royalty payments to the Greek State.

In November, a hearing held by the Commission for the Supervision and Control of Games wrote to representatives from Casino Loutraki, Corfu, Rio, Syros and Xanthi detailing the final deadlines to pay their debts.
